The UN International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea on May 10-11 will hold public hearings on the claim of Ukraine against the Russian Federation, demanding the release of Ukrainian sailors.

This was reported by Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister for European Integration Olena Zerkal.

“President of International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea defined dates of hearings in the case of temporary measures against the Russian Federation, as it violated the immunity of three Ukrainian Navy vessels and 24 crew members,” Zerkal said.

According to her, the public hearings will take place on May 10 and May 11.

Recall that on April 16, Ukraine appealed to the UN International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea to release 24 Ukrainian seamen and three ships captured by Russian security forces in November 2018.

On the eve of April 23, consultations on the suit took place in The Hague. Zerkal said that at the consultations the representatives of the Russian Federation radically changed the tone of the conversation regarding the captured sailors and warships. According to her, the Russians have moved from rudeness and gross disregard for the civilized language inherent in diplomacy.
