UN urged sides of conflict in Venezuela to renounce the use of violence

UN Human Rights Office spokesperson Marta Hurtado, called on the Venezuelan authorities and opposition to renounce the use of violence against each other. The UN Office of Human Rights said this on its website.

According to Hurtado, all sides should renounce the use of violence.

“We urge the political leaders to engage in meaningful discussions to work towards resolving the current crisis,” said UN Office spokesperson.

Also, the UN calls on all sides to show maximum restraint, and on the authorities “to respect the right to peaceful assembly, and not to use a language inciting people to violence.”

As The Journalist reported, the number of detainees during the protests in Venezuela had significantly increased.
