US imposed sanctions on Maduro’s family

The United States announced the introduction of sanctions against the corruption network, which withdraws millions of dollars from social programs. The members of the family of the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, were allegedly involved in the corruption schemes. This was stated by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Ukrinform reports.

The US imposed sanctions on five people who were involved in a comprehensive network of bribery and money laundering. In addition, sanctions were imposed against another five people and 13 organizations associated with these corrupt leaders.

It also clarifies that among those who are on the new list of restrictions, there are three Maduro’s stepchildren (Yoswal, Yosser and Walter Flores), Colombian businessman Alex Saab, who is the head of the corruption network, as well as the children of first lady Cilia Flores.

Pompeo called on the international community to continue supporting the provisional president of Venezuela, Juan Guaido, the National Assembly and the people of Venezuela.

As The Journalist reported, more than USD 40 mln aid destined for Guatemala and Honduras will instead be used to support Venezuelan opposition.
