US intends to impose sanctions against Venezuelan government members

The United States is preparing sanctions and criminal cases against a number of members of the Venezuelan government, the German international television and radio DW reported.

The United States suspects a number of Venezuelan officials of laundering money for the Nicholas Maduro government through the Venezuelan CLAP food program. In this regard, the US National Security Council, the State Department, as well as the Ministry of Justice and Finance are preparing a package of sanctions. It is expected that restrictive measures will be taken in the next three months.

Recall, on May 10, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions against the defense sector and special services of Venezuela, against the Monsoon Navigation Corporation, Serenity Maritime Limited companies, as well as the Ocean Eleganc and Leon Dias tankers, which transport oil to Cuba.
