The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Porter began its northbound international strait transit en route to the Black Sea. The warship will participate in naval operations along with NATO allies and partners – Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Georgia, and Ukraine. This was reported in the press center of the United States Sixth Fleet.

It is expected that the American destroyer will enter the Black Sea today, June 17. This is the third time a U.S. Navy ship has conducted operations in the Black Sea in 2020 and the second time for Porter, which visited the Black Sea in April. Before this, this ship visited the Black Sea in April.

The purpose of his arrival is to ensure security in the region and participate in naval operations with NATO allies and partners. Ship Commander Craig Trent noted that Porter’s presence in the Black Sea is crucial to building a secure maritime environment and ensuring freedom of navigation. Porter and her crew “look forward to operating in the Black Sea alongside our allies and partners in support of mutual maritime interests in the region,” the report reads.
