Peacekeepers may appear in Donbass as early as 2019, said the adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ivan Varchenko.
In practice, the preparation of a peacekeeping mission requires six months, so peacekeepers can appear in Donbass in 2019. Varchenko noted that the return of the occupied territories is a way of compromise, when peacekeeping missions are combined with military actions.
Adviser noted that Minsk agreements helped stabilize the situation at the front, but they do not answer the main question – how to resolve the conflict.
At the same time, the adviser to the head of Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that a decision of the UN Security Council is necessary for the peacekeeping mission, but the aggressor country is included in the five permanent members.
«A decision of UN Security Council is necessary for a peacekeeping mission. And there among the five permanent members is Russia, which is the aggressor. Therefore, to agree on the part that we are ready for this operation, it is necessary and with it», Varchenko noted.
As The Journalist reported, the Red Cross sent seven trucks with humanitarian aid to the residents of Donbass.
