China to build military training base in Afghanistan

In the framework of cooperation with Kabul in the fight against terrorism, China began building a military training base in Afghanistan. It is reported by South China Morning Post news agency.
It is reported that after the base will be completed, the Chinese side will equip at least one battalion of military personnel to train Afghanistan troops.
It will be the first time in Afghanistan history that China has had a military presence on country’s territory.
It is noted that the base will be located in the Wakhan Corridor. This area has the form of a long corridor in the mountains and borders with three countries: Tajikistan in the north, Pakistan in the south and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the PRC in the east. It is the eastern part that is predominantly populated by Muslims and where separatist groups associated with the international terrorist Islamist underground operate.
