Czech Republic improved support system for rural pharmacies

Czech Republic: In order to support rural pharmacies, the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund has agreed on the conditions under which pharmacies from remote rural areas can receive financial assistance, UNN reported.
“The maximum amount of subsidy in 2019 reaches 600,000 CZK (UAH 736,000). Thus, the Fund fulfills the request of the Ministry of Health for financial support of pharmacies in the total amount of CZK 48 million,” the message says.
Similar activities were carried out before, but this time clear criteria and parameters were identified to confirm the inaccessibility of pharmaceutical care in the region. Pharmacies that meet the following criteria may apply for assistance:

• a contract with at least one of the companies providing health insurance in the Czech Republic;
• the only pharmacy that provides pharmaceutical assistance in the village;
• travel time to all municipalities of the district is more than 10 minutes;
• localization in one of the selected areas which is under potential risk of unavailability of pharmacy care;
• less than 28,000 packages of prescription drugs, the cost of which is reimbursed by the state health insurance system.
