Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan said that ground work on the construction of the runway of the new airport on the administrative border of the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhya regions near the village of Solyone will start this year.
“All the preparatory work for the construction of the airport with the tentative name "Prydniprovia" near the village of Solyone has begun. This year, we hope to start land work on preparing the runway. Over the next two years we have to complete all the work,” said the Minister.
Omelyan noted that the construction of a new airport will not affect the operation of existing airports in the Dnipro and Zaporizhia, UNIAN reports.
“The best example is the city of Kyiv. Boryspil and Kyiv airports get along well here. We proceeded from the fact that instead of investing money separately at Zaporizhia and Dnipro airports, which have a restriction of urban development, it is better to build a new one,” said the minister.
