About 250 Greek nationalists protested in Thessaloniki against ratifying of the agreement on the normalization of relations with neighbor Macedonia, Associated Press reported.
As it became known, the protesters held an action at the concert hall in Thessaloniki, where the president of Greece Prokopis Pavlopoulos was to speak.
“The protesters criticize the president for his reaction to the agreement with Macedonia. In accordance with the agreement, the Balkan country will be renamed into Northern Macedonia, and Greece removes her objections Macedonia to entry NATO,” the message says.
It is noted that Pavlopoulos left the concert building bypass, away from the crowd.
In turn, the protesters tried to break through the police cordon around the building, but they were pushed aside by law enforcement officers. Some threw stones at the police and attacked the police squad on motorcycles with sticks. In this regard, police officers used tear gas and stun grenades to push back a crowd.
According to reports, one person was arrested, and another four were detained.
As The Journalist reported, nearly 800 protesters were detained in Venezuela.
