The Ministry of Defense of Japan decided to curtail the Patriot PAC-3 air defense missile systems in the south-west of the country, against the background of stabilization of the situation on the Korean Peninsula and reduction of the missile threat from the DPRK. This is reported by NHK Japan’s news agency.
It is reported that the missile installations, which were deployed in 2017 in the western prefectures of the country to protect American air bases due to the threat of launching ballistic missiles from the DPRK, was decided to curtail at the moment.
Japanese leadership took this decision due to the reduction of the North Korea’s missile threat, which was resulted by agreements between the United States and the DPRK.
It is noted that the Ministry of Defense of Japan is ready at any time to re-deploy the missile complexes, if circumstances will be changed. Also, the Patriot PAC-3 missile systems will remain deployed on the territory of the defense department in Tokyo downtown.
