EU intends to organize appropriate level of protection of European Parliament elections

The European Union intends to discuss how to best protect European Parliament from external interference and from any financial abuse, the website of the European Commission informed.

The EU noted that, given the experience of lessons from the past, elections are the target of cyberattacks, misuse of data, disinformation and interference. This time, the EU intends to organize an appropriate level of protection.

“The priority for EU governments should be now to set up proper structures to deal with the risks and take measures to protect the electoral and make sure citizens are well informed,” said Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality, Věra Jourová.

To achieve this goal, a meeting of the initiative group on organizing European elections was held on Wednesday (February 27 – ed.) in Brussels.
