EU called on Russia to accept its responsibility for downing MH17 flight

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, urged Russia to recognize its responsibility for downing the Malaysia Airlines MH17 flight on July 17, 2014. Relevant statement was published by the press service of the EU Council.

«The Joint Investigation Team on 24 May presented further findings of its independent, professional and impartial investigation. Investigators concluding that the BUK installation used to shoot down flight MH17 belonged beyond doubt to the armed forces of the Russian Federation,» – the document says.

Federica Mogherini stressed that the EU fully supports the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2166 which demands to bring to justice those responsible for the MN17 tragedy that took place in the sky over Donbas. In addition, she urged Russia to recognize its responsibility.

«We will continue to call on the Russian Federation to accept its responsibility and to fully cooperate with all efforts to establish accountabilitycircumstances,» – the EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy summed up.

As «The Journalist» reported earlier, the court in MH17 case will be held in the Netherlands.
