A member of the European Court of Auditors, Janusz Wojciechowski, has presented a report in Warsaw in which he states that products that could harm consumers’ health are entering the European market.
According to Wojciechowski, it is caused by the fact the EU food safety control system is overloaded, writes Polskie Radio.
In January, the Supreme Chamber of Control stated that food producers in Poland use many chemicals that are not being properly supervised.
Inspectors note that the average person consumes 2 kg of antioxidants and flavor enhancers annually. Mr Wojciechowski said that this problem concerns the entire European Union:
“Pesticides and veterinary drugs are more or less controlled, but a lot of additives, food additives, remain out of control actually.”
Experts recommend to consumers carefully read the product descriptions labels and select those with the lowest content of chemical additives.
As The Journalist reported, Hungarian population is outraged by ‘slave laws’.
