The State Enterprise Zhytomyr Armored Plant has presented a combat armored tracked vehicle BMP-M1S, which was developed at enterprise expense.
According to the press service of the SE, the presentation took place at the International specialized exhibition «Arms and Security – 2018», which is held in Kyiv.
«The BMP-M1S is a conversion based on the BRM-1K combat reconnaissance vehicle; it has significantly increased its firepower, the protection level and replace the outdated Soviet engine with the German Deutz. Thanks to this, the BMP-M1S can transport up to eight servicemen and effectively support the infantry thanks to the great firepower of the Stilett combat module,» – the report said.
It is noted that due to remotorization, the 15.5-tonn weight BMP-M1S can reach speed up to 70 km/h and overcomes water obstacles at a speed of 7.5 km/h.
