In Kyiv a monument to the Kievan Rus times hero Ilya Murometsu will be built in Kyiv on the Trukhaniv Island, the press service of the Kiev city chairman Vitali Klitschko reported.
The monument is created with the use unique technology: parts for sculpture forms, which are then filled with bronze, made using a 3D printer. This unique technology was offered by the sculptor Volodymyr Zhuravel.
«At first the sculpture of the hero, for the image of whom Vasyl Virastyuk posed, was sculpted, then scanned and created a 3D model using a special program. Then every detail of the future monument was printed on a 3D printer in order to prepare molds for casting Ilya in bronze», Klitschko said.
The monument will be 11 m high together with a hill and a granite pedestal. It will be install in «Muromets» park in the capital.
«Ilya Muromets, who, according to legend, was born near Chernihiv, served Prince Vladimir, guarded Kyiv and was buried in the Kievo-Pecherska Lavra. This is our hero and our story, which others trying to steal from us today. Therefore, Muromets will stand in Kyiv, on the territory of Trukhaniv Island, where Prince Vladimir’s squad was once located», the mayor of the capital said.
