Exhibition of artist Artemisia Gentileschi to be opened in London

London National Gallery in 2020 plans a large-scale exhibition of works by an outstanding Italian artist of the late Renaissance Artemisia Gentileschi. About this reports TheArtNewsPaper.

The report notes that in recent years there has been an increased attention to the amazing life history and creativity of the artist, based on the belief that there is a lack of representation of the work of women artists in museum exhibitions and art history.
According to the curator of the gallery Leticia Treve, there are more than 50 works by Gentileschi in the world. During the preparation of the exhibition, requests were sent to museums and private collections from around the world, including the British Royal Collection, with a request for works for the exhibition.
It is noted that the director of the London National Gallery, Gabriel Finaldi, calls Artemisia Gentileschi the “Guiding Star” in the male painting world.
