On the eve, on September 18, the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly (UN) opened in New York.
The session will be chaired this year by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador, Maria Fernanda Espinosa Garcés. In the history of the United Nations, she will be the fourth woman on this position.
The high-level meeting will begin on 24 September. On the same day, the Peace Summit will be held in honor of the South African state and political figure Nelson Mandela, as well as discussing the financing of the Sustainable Development Agenda for the period until 2030.
As reported on the website of the UN, among the list of additional items proposed for consideration at the 73rd session is the situation in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, strengthening and encouraging international treaty regime, ensuring preservation of sea space for benefit of present and future generations.
Note that on September 26 at the session of the UN General Assembly President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko is expected to hold a speech.
