Large-scale forest fire unfolded on the South Island of New Zealand. A state of emergency has been declared in Nelson-Tasman region. About this reports Reuters.

The fire that began in the Pagein Valley in the city of Nelson on Tuesday, February 5, doubled in size at night and spread to an area of 1,870 hectares.
Due to the strong winds that carry the fire, firefighters find it difficult to reach all areas in the forest. It is reported that on the night of fire, 12 fire brigades, 10 helicopters and two planes fought.
Residents of more than 100 houses were evacuated to civil defense centers.
Now no information about the dead or injured has yet been received.
