The California adopted a new law that limits the use of plastic straw in restaurants. This is reported by USA Today inform agency.
This is the first time when the use of plastic straws in places of public catering is limited on a legal basis in the US. However, in accordance with the norms of the law, waiters can issue them in case of an urgent request. At the same time, this measure does not apply to fast food establishments.

«For observance of the law will be issued up to two warnings, after which the offender [restaurant – ed.] will be fined to USD 25. At the same time, the annual amount of penalties should not exceed USD 300,» – the report said.

The report notes that the San Francisco (California) and Seattle (Washington) have already completely abandoned the plastic straw use.
