Since April 30, 2018 Russian’s representatives stops the non-military vessels following to the Mariupol seaport through the Kerch Strait, for inspection and identification of the teams. This was reported by the press center of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
«On April 30, during the registration at the Mariupol port of the ship, following the route Greece (Chios) – Ukraine (Mariupol), it became known that the vessel during the passage of the Kerch Strait was stopped by the FSB RF border patrol ship. The Russians inspected the vessel and identified the crew members (citizens of Turkey, Georgia, Egypt, Nigeria). There were no comments from the invaders», – the press center said.
The same day the ship, following the route Israel (Ashdod) – Ukraine (Mariupol), was stopped in the same way. Its ship crew consisted of Ukrainians.
The next day, representatives of the Russian Federation stopped the ship going under the Bulgaria flag (among the crew – citizens of Bulgaria), following the route Italy (Nogaro) – Ukraine (Mariupol).
Also, the vessel under the flag of Malta (among the crew – 16 citizens of Ukraine and 2 citizens of Turkey), followed the route Italy (Monfalcone) – Ukraine (Mariupol) was inspected. During the passage of the Kerch Strait, the ship was stopped in the same way, and on its’ way back under recommended course on the traverse of the Berdyansk Spit, the ship was stopped again by the Russians for a second inspection and identification of the crew members.
