On November 19, owners of cars with foreign registration blocked regional custom office due to high rates on customs clearance of the cars. This is reported by TSN.
It is reported that about 40 people in the city of Rivne gathered near the customs post in order to meet with the Acting Head of Customs Ivan Ivanov. Since he did not come to them, people blocked the road, continuously moving along a pedestrian crossing. As it turned out, the increase in customs rates, which activists said, has not yet happened.
«Today, the Rivne customs is blocking, cargo and passenger terminals are blocked. The purpose of the action is to cancel a sharp and unjustified price increase for car customs clearance. In one day, the amount of customs clearance rose by at least USD 1,000,» one of the activists, Roman Kray, said.
It is noted that activists demand from the leadership of the regional customs to appeal to the State Fiscal Service with a request to consider the possibility of blocking these legislative innovations.
The Patrol police of the Rivne Oblast arrive to the place of the protest action. According to the police officers, while clarifying the circumstances, one of the activists violated public order. To pacify the offender during the collision, the patrol police officer used a gas spray against him.
As it became known, the customs authorities decided to negotiate with the protesters. However, the results of the meeting are still unknown. At the moment, entry into the territory of the customs control zone is unlocked.
