A yacht was detained off the coast of Greece, carrying 57 illegal immigrants. This reports the press service of the State Border Service of Ukraine.
As it became known, in the Kalamak sea region of Paliovun (Greece), law enforcement officers detained a yacht with illegal immigrants and crew, which consisted of citizens of Ukraine.
It is noted that the next day after the arrest of the vessel, at the airport of Athens, one of the members of the criminal organization was detained, who during 2017-2018, transferred the recruited citizens of Ukraine abroad.
In just the past two years, at least 12 citizens of Ukraine have been recruited to smuggle illegal migrants by sea.
«Thanks to cooperation with Europol this summer, together with law enforcement officers from Greece and Italy, a group of Ukrainians were exposed to smuggle illegal migrants, and in the Italian port area of Crotone, a yacht was detained with 71 illegal migrants who were shipped from Turkey», the report said.
Earlier Journalist reported that in the Lviv region local residents «surrendered» 11 illegal immigrants to the border guards, including children.
