Activist climbed onto the Statue of Liberty

In New York, a group of activists with posters climbed the pedestal of the famous Statue of Liberty. There were signs on the banners saying: «Disband the ICE» (Immigration and Customs Enforcement – Ed.)Informs abc7chicago.

It is reported that about eight people, including African-American woman, climbed onto the Statue of Liberty on the Independence Day of the United States. They held a protest against the migration policy of the current administration of the White House.
It is noted that the police arrested seven participants of the action. But with the eighth offender – African-American woman – it was harder. She climbed to the very top of the pedestal, to the foot of the statue which as high as 15 floors.

For several hours negotiations were held with the activist, and the island of Liberty was completely evacuated from visitors. As a result, two rescuers reached the woman and wrapped her with ropes and sent her down to the ground.
According to the initiator of the action, the woman herself decided to climb to the foot of the Statue of Liberty and did not speak about her decision to other protesters.
