Uber International Taxi Service announced that it had suspended service in Barcelona after regional authorities adopted rules restricting its work in the city. About this informs Reuters.
“The new restrictions approved by Catalan government leave us no choice but to stop working on UberX while we are assessing our future in Barcelona. We strive to be a long-term partner for Spanish cities and look forward to working with the Catalan government and city council with fair rules for all,” said a spokesman for Uber.
The report notes that in Barcelona, Uber worked through the UberX service, using professional drivers with licenses from March 2018.
Earlier, the Catalan government decided that users of online services of private passenger companies should request services in at least 15 minutes. However, Uber expressed categorical disagreement with this decision of the Catalan authorities.
