It is reported that protesters at University of North Carolina overturned and desecrated Quiet Sam monument, set in honor of a soldier of the Confederation of Civil War in the United States.
The statue was installed in 1913.
«Around the statue called Silent Sam, which is located on the campus, gathered about 300 activists who spoke against the demolition of the memorial, but a few hours later, the statue was turned over to the ground. It was partially broken down, and after that it was doused with mud and began to trample down», report said.
Police officers detained one of the protesters.
