On August 29th, the grand opening of the 75th Venice Film Festival took place in Venice. Film festival opened the world premiere of director Damien Chazelle «First Man» about NASA astronaut Neil Armstrong writes Radio Svoboda.
In 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first person to visit the moon.
It is known that within the framework of festival contest committee will review and evaluate 20 films. Results of the competition will be announced on September 8. The competition committee is headed by Mexican film director and screenwriter Guillermo del Toro.
Also during the festival, Ukrainian director Sergei Loznitsa presents a new film «Process» in out-of-competition program of festival. Loznitsa’s film is an author’s study of Soviet history and, in particular, a system of totalitarianism and dictatorship without right for freedom of expression on territory of the Soviet Union.
«Loznitsa turned to events of Soviet history, his film was compiled from the chronicles of the first public trials initiated by Joseph Stalin in the 1930s. Author examines the mechanism of state terror based on conveyor production of absurd charges», report said.
As previously reported by The Journalist Russian director gave her award to the Czech Film Festival to Sentsov and Serebrennikov.
