In Zhytomyr oblast, 2019 was declared the year of the leader of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists Stepan Bandera.
The corresponding decision was made on July 26 at the regular session of the Zhytomyr Oblast Council.
Deputies supported the decision, agreeing with the recommendation of the regional council committee on regulations, deputy activity, local self-government, legality, law and order and anti-corruption activities.
Also, the regional council recommended that the Zhytomyr City Council, when approving the city budget for 2019, provide for the establishment of a monument to Bandera in the city.
In pursuance of the decision, an organizational committee will be set up in the region, a plan of measures to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the birth of Bandera, who was born on January 1, 1909.
At the beginning of the session, some members of the public from the organization of the Poles called on the deputies not to take this decision.
As «Journalist» reported, in Zhytomyr region, black-and-red will be posted along with the state flag.
