Singer Svyatoslav Vakarchuk declared that he would not participate in the presidential elections of 2019.
This Vakarchuk wrote on his Facebook page.
According to Vakarchuk, he has repeatedly stated that “the authorities as such, the presidency as such are not interesting for me”.
“I am interested in real changes in the country. And in order to be clear and remove all questions, I officially declare: I, Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, will not participate in the presidential elections of 2019,” the statement reads.
“I am well aware that now, in jeans, I can do more for the country than by wearing a tie. And I’m not going to stand aside,” the singer assured.
Vakarchuk noted that when communicating with people, he feels their disappointment and despondency.
“I see how corruption and injustice corrode our country from the inside. I see how unprincipled politicians and the greed of officials make our country weaker. It should not be! And we can change it,” Vakarchuk stressed.
