Venezuelan authorities have decided to leave the Organization of American States (OAS). This is stated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela.
The Foreign Ministry says that Venezuela cannot be a member of an organization that “kneels before the imperial interests of the US administration.”
“Faced with the apparent failure of the coup d’état that began last January, the Trump government moved its political pawns to the continent in order to break the democratic will of the member states and give legal polish and dubious oxygen to the aggression against Venezuela. Washington provoked a criminal decision, began a dark route, overshadows future relations between states on the continent,” the statement said.
The official withdrawal of Venezuela from the Organization of American States announced on April 27.
