Junior Brexit minister Martin Callanan said UK will not take part in the elections to the European Parliament in May because it will leave the European Union on March 29th, Reuters reported.
The President of the European Commission said that he still does not exclude the possibility the UK would participate in the European elections, since she may ask for an extension of the deadline to leave the EU.
However, Callanan assured that UK will not take part in the elections "because we are leaving … on the 29th of March."
Martin Callanan also added that "the Prime Minister made it clear that we intend to leave on the 29th of March — that’s what Article 50 says and that’s what our domestic legislation says."
As The Journalist reported, Theresa May suffers new defeat on Brexit.
