After the drone incident at London Gatwick Airport occured in December last year, UK decided to expand the no-fly zone to 5 km around British airports, Bloomberg reports.
It is reported that the new restrictions will come into force on March 13 and will apply to drones and model aircraft.
Transport Secretary Chris Grayling said that “operating a drone near the airport is a serious crime. Now we are going even further and are expanding the no-fly zone to ensure the safety of our airports.”
British government developed a draft law on drones to provide the police with additional authority to access electronic data stored on the drone, without the need for a search warrant.
"UAVs weighing over 20kg should be registered and pass an online test," the report says.
As The Journalist reported, UK MPs called for creation of independent social networks regulator.
