Ukraine’s Parliament appointed two judges of the Constitutional Court

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has appointed Iryna Zavgorodnya and Oleh Pervomayskiy as the judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

On September 20, the Chairman of the Committee for Legal Policy and Justice, Ruslan Knyazevich, noted at the Parliament meeting that the Verkhovna Rada cannot fill its representation quota in the Constitutional Court of Ukraine within 4 years.

He recalled that two of four candidates are represented by the «Petro Poroshenko Bloc», another one by «People’s Front» and one more candidate represented by the «Batkivshchyna» , RBC news agency reports.

First the Verkhovna Rada held a rating vote for each candidate, which gives great support to Zavgorodnyaya by 223 deputies out of 341 registered in the session hall; Pervomaiskiy was supported by 238 votes out of 339.

After that, the Parliament approved the candidatures of Zavgorodnya and Pervomayskiy. Their appointment as judges of the Constitutional Court was backed by 230 people’s deputies out of 340 registered in the session hall.

As The Journalist reported, Yanukovych was invited to Kyiv to make his closing speech in court.
