Verkhovna Rada voted by 238 votes to pass Law No. 5435 on the legal status of persons who disappeared, reports «112 Ukraine».

The document determined the concept of «missing person». It is established that a person acquires the status of a missing person from the moment of submitting an application for the loss of a person without a trace and his search, or by a court decision. Moreover, the relatives of the person who has disappeared have the right to know about where he is, or the place of death and burial of a person. Also have the right to receive the remains of the deceased. In addition, the right of family members of a missing person to receive a pension due to the loss of family head is provided.

It is noted that the Commission on the Issues of Missing Persons under Special Circumstances will be established. It should be a permanent advisory and advisory body of the Cabinet. It is formed to coordinate the activities of state bodies authorized to register and / or search for persons missing.
In addition, it is planned to create a single register of persons missing in special circumstances.
