Supreme Court of Ukraine opposed the freezing of judges’ salaries in 2019.

This decision was made at a meeting of the plenum of the APU today, November 16, in Kyiv.

Participant of plenum of Supreme Court judge Alla Lesko said that on November 1, government submitted to Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine the draft law No. 9258, developed by Ministry of Finance, which provides for freezing the salaries of judges of the first and appeals instances at the 2018 level.

«In particular, the draft law plans to exclude a section from the transitional provisions of Law on Judiciary and Status of Judges, which provides for an increase in the salaries of judges of the first and appeal instances to 25 and 40 living wages, respectively», Lesko said.

Recall that today the salary of the court of first instance is about 30 thousand UAH, and the second – almost 50 thousand UAH, but we are talking only about those judges who have passed the qualification assessment.

As the «Journalist» reported, the doctors blocked the Kiev-Chop highway and demanded to pay them salaries.
