It is reported that on November 16, seismologists of the US Geo-Service recorded a strong earthquake of magnitude 6.2 in the south-western part of the Pacific Ocean.
The report notes that its epicenter was located 350 km east of the city of Honiara (capital of the Solomon Islands state – ed.) and 81 km from the island of San Cristobal. The center of aftershocks, according to seismologists, lies at a depth of more than 10 kilometers.
According to the intensity of tremors in the epicenter, an earthquake is estimated as «destructive».
