An earthquake of magnitude 5.3 struck off Taiwan on January 30, the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported.
The epicenter of aftershocks was located 179 km south-east of the capital of the island state of Taipei. The center of the earthquake lies at a depth of 12 kilometers.
Information on the destruction and injuries have not been reported.
