Verkhovna Rada’s Dome will be restored for the first time in 45 years

The dome of the administrative building of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Grushevskogo str., 5 in Kyiv for the first time in 45 years will be restored, the press service of the parliament reported.

According to Victor Yaremchuk, the chief specialist of the department for the construction of the Verkhovna Rada Affairs Department, who is responsible for carrying out the restoration work, «the dome has not been repaired for 45 years – even the inscription on the steel sheet «1973» shows this.

Yaremchuk said that repairs were planned in 2013, but the plans were not destined to be realized in connection with the relevant political events in Ukraine.
According to the results of the conducted procedure of open tenders in May-June of this year for procurement and execution of necessary works, the domestic firm «Construction and Restoration Firm Vozrozhdenie», which has experience of restoration work and worked at the Mariinsky Palace, was declared the winner. A corresponding agreement has been concluded. In accordance with the terms of the concluded contract, the work must be carried out no later than December 10, 2018. The work was started in June, even before the end of the eighth session.

At the same time Yaremchuk assured that most of the work will be completed by the beginning of the plenary sessions – the glass will be completely replaced, the metal structures will be cleaned and painted. Thus, even before the people’s deputies begin to work in the session hall.

As «Journalist» reported, after repair, the international airport Poltava began to accept passenger flights.
