Ukraine now is very close to lifting the moratorium on agricultural land sales, thanks to the introduction of project to monitor land relations, which is designed to make them open.

This was reported by Satu Kahkonen, World Bank Director for Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine, UNIAN informs.

«For many years Ukraine has a land moratorium, the abolition of which may increase Ukraine’s GDP. The transparency is a necessary part of the land market for now. It is the main thing we focus on in our work, which is still ongoing. At the end of the World Bank program, all information should be accessible to everyone,» – said Kahkonen.

According to her, the World Bank in cooperation with Ukrainian Government has developed the best land map in Ukraine as for today, which will help to improve land monitoring, as well as other aspects necessary for opening the land market.

As The Journalist reported, the World Bank is ready to allocate USD 650 million to Ukraine if she will reach agreements with the IMF.
