China’s Executive Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng has said that the situation surrounding the coronavirus is politicized, and China is opposed to an international investigation aimed at accusing PRC of spreading the coronavirus pandemic, NBC reports.

A senior Chinese government official rejected allegations that the country had concealed the initial outbreak of coronavirus or that China should be held financially responsible for COVID-19 spread. Instead, he called the virus a “natural disaster” and called for increased collaboration and to put an end to the accusation.

“On January 23 when Wuhan went under lockdown, the United States reported only one confirmed case, but on March 13 when President Trump announced a national emergency, the United States reported over 1,600 confirmed cases. What did the US government do during this 50-day interval? Where have those 50 days gone?” the diplomat specified.

Also, according to the representative of China, there is no international law that would support the accusation that the country was simply be the first to report the disease.
