Director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Dr. Carissa F. Etienne, during a briefing to the World Health Organization said that the coronavirus pandemic center has moved to the Americas, Reuters reports.
She expressed her concern about the situation in Brazil, which was mainly in first place in the number of deaths from COVID-19 per day in the world, even ahead of the United States, the leader in terms of the number of infected per day.
She expressed the view that it was too early for Latin American countries to weaken quarantine.
“Our region has become the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Etienne said.
She also added that the region has a long way to go before talking about the end of the pandemic.
