The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine proposes to raise the minimum wholesale selling and retail prices for certain alcoholic beverages.
In particular, it is expected to raise prices for vodka and alcoholic beverages by 10.7%; whiskey, rum and gin – by 7.3%; brandy – by 9.1-9.5% and wine – by 7.4-10.2%.
The rise in price of alcohol is caused by an increase in the cost of production components: alcohol, packaging, energy.
“Therefore, the minimum prices today do not correspond to the real costs of the beverages production and sale, so they need to be adjusted,” the report says.
We note, that the last time the minimum prices for alcohol were raised in September 2018.
As The Journalist reported, electricity price for industry can grow by 42% in Ukraine from July 1.
