UN Secretary General António Guterres has said that the world’s population is moving towards a ‘point of no return’, but still can turn off this path.

Thus, World’s largest CO2 emitters must stop war against nature by changing their current course.

“We must put an end to policy of ignoring climate protection issues,” Guterres said at the UN Climate Conference in Madrid.

“We have been fighting for too long against our planet, and now our planet is striking in response,” the UN News Center quoted UN Secretary General, as saying.

Guterres is convinced that previous efforts to implement measures to protect climate are “absolutely insufficient” due to the lack of political will.

Increasing temperature level on the planet, in particular, the incidence of extreme weather conditions, are becoming more noticeable. They will have terrible consequences for humanity and other species on the planet, the UN Secretary General warned.

He believes it is necessary to stop “digging and drilling” and take advantage of renewable energy sources and noted that many states do not fulfill their obligations.

A two-week World Climate Forum kicks-off in Madrid on December 2.
