Zelensky decides on new NBU governor’s candidacy

The Verkhovna Rada has registered a draft resolution No. 3857 of July 15, 2020 on the appointment of Kyrylo Shevchenko as chairman of the National Bank, submitted by the President Volodymyr Zelensky. This was reported on the VR website.

“In accordance with clause 18 of part one of Article 85 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine decides to appoint Shevchenko Kyrylo to the post of governor of the National Bank of Ukraine,” the draft resolution reads.

According to the first deputy chairman of the financial committee of VR Yaroslav Zhelezniak, the committee will consider the issue of the NBU governor today, July 16.

INFO: Kyrylo Shevchenko has been the chairman of the board of Ukrgasbank since 2015. From October 1995 to December 2006, he worked his way up from the head of the standards department to the first deputy chairman of the bank’s board at Finance and Credit Bank. From December 2006 to May 2009 he headed the State Mortgage Institution, and from May 2009 to September 2009 he was an advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko. From 2009 to April 2010 he was the First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Ukrgasbank. In 2012-2014 he worked as an advisor to the chairman of the board of Oschadbank. From October 2014 to May 2015 – acting Chairman of the Board of Ukrgasbank.
