Zelensky meets with chairman of Japan-Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Association

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, as part of his working visit to Japan, has met with Chairman of the Japan-Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Association Eysuke Mori and members of the Association.

According to the presidential press service, Zelensky thanked for the consistent policy of support of Japan’s Government and Parliament for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, in particular, within the framework of international organizations, as well as Japan’s large-scale humanitarian and financial assistance for structural reforms in Ukraine.

The parties also discussed opportunities for deepening economic and investment cooperation.

So, the issues of cooperation within the framework of the implementation of infrastructure projects in Ukraine were raised, as well as mutually beneficial projects in the field of energy, transport, agriculture, environmental protection, etc., the president’s press service reports.

Zelensky told that Verkhovna Rada had created a parliamentary group on inter-parliamentary relations with Japan, which included 117 deputies; 80 of them, including the co-chairman of the group, represent the Servant of the People political party.

An important part of the meeting was related to the exchange of experience in dealing with the consequences of nuclear emergencies. The President of Ukraine noted the effectiveness of the activities of the Ukrainian-Japanese joint committee on cooperation in the field of post–accident emergency response at nuclear power plants.
