Representative of the President in the Cabinet of Ministers Andrii Gerus, proposed to allocate an additional UAH 2 billion to subsidies at the expense of funds from the introduced special duty on the import of diesel and liquefied gas from Russia.

This was reported by the President Office.

Gerus said that recently the Cabinet of Ministers approved a decree introducing a special duty on imports of diesel fuel from the Russian Federation (pipeline transport) and liquefied gas.

According to estimates, the state budget will receive about UAH 2 billion per year, and these funds should be allocated for subsidies.

“The Ukrainian budget will additionally receive about UAH 2 billion per year. In my opinion, these funds should be directed to expanding the program of subsidies for low-income segments of the population,” the press service quotes Gerus, as saying.

Thus, as of January 2018, 6,9 million households used subsidies, but after various decisions, the number of subsidies decreased to 3,6 million households as of January of this year.

“This caused a payment discipline decrease, increase debts for housing and communal services. In my opinion, an additional 1-1,5 million families with low incomes are justifiably entitled to subsidies, so now we are developing the appropriate changes to the rules for obtaining subsidies,” Gerus said.

As The Journalist reported, Pension Fund provides funding for pensions and monetization of subsidies.
