Zelensky proposes to establish Skorik, Paton state awards

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposes to establish two state awards named after Myroslav Skorik and Borys Paton. The corresponding proposal has been sent to the government, RBC-Ukraine reports.

According to Zelensky, he submitted letters to the government on the establishment of two awards:

  • Borys Paton State Award for a significant contribution to the development of Science;
  • Myroslav Skoryk State Award for a significant contribution to the development of music.

Myroslav Skoryk is an outstanding Ukrainian composer. He is the author of the music for the famous film “Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors” directed by Serhiy Parajanov; he was an author of the famous work “Melody”.

Borys Paton has been President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine for 58 years, and is also the author of over 1,000 scientific publications and over 400 inventions.
