President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has responded to a statement made by French President Emmanuel Macron, who believes that Russia is not a threat.

In his interview with Der Spiegel, Le Monde, Time and Gazeta Wyborcza, the Ukrainian President was asked to comment on Macron’s statement that NATO is experiencing brain death and he would like to reset relations with Russia because the Russian Federation is part of Europe.

“For us, look, it does sound weird. When it comes to Russia, it seems France has different relations now with the Russian Federation,” Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian president also added that some of these words are linked to “easing the policy of sanctions.” Zelensky emphasized that economically, the sanctions policy against the Russian Federation does not benefit France and Germany.

“But when we are talking about human beings, we should not consider benefits. And on this the leaders of Europe guaranteed to me that the sanctions policy would stay the same until we get all of our territory back,” the Ukrainian president said to the Western media, stressing that this also applies to Crimea.

On November 7, Macron announced NATO experiencing brain death, criticizing coordination in strategic decisions between the United States and its allies in the Alliance.

On November 28, Macron called terrorism, not Russia, as a common enemy for member countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
