Advisor to the newly elected president of Ukraine on defense Ivan Aparshyn said that he does not know if the acting Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak has a chance to remain in office, as Volodymyr Zelensky will take a decision.
“If there are questions to me about what to do with Mr. Poltorak, I think that I will definitely advise the new president to find a new candidate for the position of Minister of Defense,” quotes Aparshyn Gromadske.
Asked if there is an adviser in the list of people who can take the post of Minister, Aparshyn noted that “this does not apply to his competence.”
“How do you imagine: I am sitting with Zelensky from morning till night, and I advise him? I am an expert on security and defense. Tomorrow there will be a question and the president will want to receive more detailed information about personnel appointments. I will express his position to him, but this does not mean that he will accept my position “, – said Aparshyn.
In addition, Zelensky’s adviser noted that he did not see the Minister of Defense Anatoliy Hrytsenko.
“I think that Anatoliy Hrytsenko is no longer the Minister of Defense, he has already risen from this level. But it was the best defense minister of all time. Hrytsenko knows where he should be and what to do. His party will go to the parliamentary elections,” added the advisor.
