President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed the law introducing amendments to certain laws of Ukraine regarding the activity of judicial administration.

This is stated on the official website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

It is noted that the law was “returned with the signature of the president.”

On October 16, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a presidential law introducing amendments to certain laws of Ukraine regarding the activities of judicial authorities. For this decision voted 236 MPs out of 387 registered in the session hall.

The Law “On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges” defines the need to reduce the composition of the Supreme Court to 100 judges (previously were 200 judges).

The law clarifies that the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine will be a state collegial body of judicial administration, which operates on an ongoing basis in the justice system of Ukraine. The High Qualification Commission will be decreased from 16 to 12 members who will be appointed for a period of 4 years by the High Council of Justice based on the results of the competition.
